I fitted this to my '14 plate 3 door with OE Bosch head unit.
It really modernises the interior and having CarPlay and Google maps rather than the outdated LR maps is a game changer.
The install is quite involved, at least for someone that doesn't do this stuff every day....it involves removing a circuit board from the back of the OE unit and mounting it inside the empty rear case of the new unit and removing the CD player to install the new power bridge cable. It's really not as daunting as I thought. Once that's done it's plug and play, I installed the GPS antenna and extra mic at the top of the A pillars, I reused the OE reversing camera and didn't bother with the DAB module as the DAB signal is patchy where I live. It is a bit of a squeeze to get the extra wiring in the available space, but it all fits if you take care. I put one of the USB sockets in the glove box and one in the centre console next to the cup holders.
Everything works as I hoped, CarPlay connects automatically and wirelessly and my music plays when I start up. The reversing camera cuts in over the Android system, the steering wheel controls still work, but with a bit of lag. The only loss that I'm aware of is that you obviously lose the Satnav commands being shown between the speedo and rev counter as they're part of the 'old'system, not much of a loss if they're sending you the wrong way anyway!!!
Great system overall and great service, help and advice from Rob at Icebox Auto. I wish that I'd done this sooner, I spent 18 months thinking about it.
